Holt, Edwin Michael

Edwin Michael Holt (1807-1884), son of Michael III (1778-1842) and Rachel Rainey (1778-1839) Holt, was a planter and part-owner of the Holt and Carrigan Cotton Mill in Orange (now Alamance) County, NC. He was considered a founder of the textile industry in the South. In 1828 he married Emily Farish (1808-1900); they were the parents of eleven children.
